PREPARING OUR STUDENTS FOR TODAY, TOMMOROW AND THE FUTURE
Education not only equips our students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in life but also enables them to contribute to their communities in meaningful ways.
Educating the youth is particularly important because they represent the future of our society
SUPPORTING THEIR DREAMS
Athletics is more than wins and losses, it’s about providing athletes with the skillsets and tools to be successful on and off the field. It’s about helping them become great leaders in school, in their community and eventually, great family members.
Athletics will help open doors for them, so they have options to continue their education, whether that’s going to college, trade school, or the workforce.
Lastly, it’s about developing friendships, a sense of belonging, community, and a family bond that will last a lifetime.
MISSION STATEMENT
“The mission of Deer Trail School District 26J is to provide an education within a safe environment that empowers students to develop foundation and understanding in becoming longlife learners while embracing the qualities of respect, responsibility and follow-through to become productive members of society.”
“Every Student Every Day”
FOCUS ON STUDENT GROWTH
At its core, Deer Trial’s main goal is to provide an environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally– and this is reflected in every aspect of our school. Deer Trail focuses on student growth by providing them with resources such as tutors or mentors, creating clubs or activities that allow them to explore their interests outside class time, and recognizing their achievements both in and outside of class. Allowing students to develop inside and outside the classroom will make them better learners, which differentiates Deer Trail from those that focus on academics alone.
INNOVATIVE
Deer Trail stays ahead of the everchanging education landscape by being innovative. Deer Trail introduces new technologies into the classroom, such as interactive whiteboards or computers for each student. Deer Trail also incorporates alternative teaching techniques like project-based learning or problem-based learning, which allow students to think critically about issues they face while still working within a structured curriculum framework.
Lastly, Deer Trails Industrial Arts Programs, Performing Arts Programs, FFA Program, and Science Laboratory are our commitment to innovation, creativity and forward-thinking. In addition, Deer Trail is focused on providing an educational experience beyond traditional methods.
Family and Community Engagement
Student Success
Comes From a Strong Partnership Between
Deer Trail School, Community and Family
Deer Trail DT26J School District encourages family and community engagement which greatly increases the likelihood that students will learn and thrive. Students are more prepared for school, more likely to achieve, and more likely to graduate when they are supported by schools, families, and communities working together in a coordinated manner.

Letter from the Superintendent
Dear Deer Trail Community,
I could not be more pleased and honored to be serving as your Superintendent of Schools. My commitment to the district and to all of you is to serve each student, staff member, our community and the Board of Education in a way that honors our excellent traditions, as well as keeping an eye toward our growth and future needs. This is an exciting challenge and one that I fully dedicate and embrace.
As I think about aligning my core values, I look at the Deer Trail School District mission as being a school district that empowers, challenges and inspires all to learn, achieve and excel. As I set out to provide leadership and vision for the district, I commit to work in partnership and solidarity with the Board of Education, our staff members and our community.
I also commit to being student centered and student focused. I will always take the time to listen to all stakeholders and do my very best to be responsive and caring. School districts exist to serve students and their needs—I will never lose sight of this.
I wanted to share with you a little bit of my background and experiences. Please know that I have proudly dedicated my entire professional career to public education for nearly 20 years. I have served in a wide array of teaching and leadership capacities and have acquired a broad and diverse skill set centered on serving students, being responsive to our community and having an unwavering commitment to equity and diversity.
I have held a number of administrative roles, from middle and high school principal, athletic director to director of schools. My administrative experiences, combined with 9 years of classroom instruction at the elementary, middle and high school levels, have provided me with a broad range of experiences and skills that I to bring to my role at Deer Trail 26J.
Please know that above all, I value relationships and working with people. I do prefer face-to-face conversations and I will always take the time to listen and understand. Relationships are built on trust, and as your superintendent, I commit to earning your trust by being visible, responsive to your concerns and having an open-door policy.
I am a proud graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I also have a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Specialist Degree in Education from Hamline University and St. Cloud State University in Minnesota.
I have a wife, Erin and three kids, Zack, Isaac, and Hannah.
In closing, I look forward to the exciting work that lies ahead of us. Deer Trail School District is a world-class organization with remarkable students, a talented and dedicated staff, an extraordinarily supportive Board of Education and engaged and excellent community. I look forward to working hard and sharing in our collective celebrations and accomplishments. The best is yet to come… WE ARE DEER TRAIL!
Sincerely,
Micheal Jobman
